Description

Pineapple Sage (Salvia elegans) is one of the most sensory-rich plants you can grow — bruise a leaf and you get an instant burst of fresh pineapple fragrance. Brilliant red tubular flowers bloom in late summer and fall, arriving just in time to fuel migrating hummingbirds and late-season pollinators. It's equally at home in an herb garden, a pollinator bed, or a patio container.

Why Gardeners Choose Pineapple Sage

  • Hummingbird and pollinator magnet: The bright red tubular flowers are irresistible to hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees.
  • Pineapple-scented foliage: Leaves release a delightful tropical fragrance when touched — a standout in any sensory garden.
  • Edible and versatile: Flowers and leaves are used in teas, fruit salads, summer drinks, and savory recipes.
  • Fast growing: Quickly fills in as a lush, bushy accent plant through the season.
  • Easy to grow: Adapts to a wide range of soils and conditions with minimal care.

Planting & Care

  • Light: Full sun to part shade.
  • Soil: Adapts to most soil types with good drainage.
  • Height: Grows 18–24 inches tall.
  • Winter hardiness: Dies back after hard frost but reliably regrows in spring (Zones 8–10). In colder zones, grow as an annual or overwinter indoors.
  • Watering: Regular watering for best growth; fairly adaptable once established.

Shipping Information

When will my order ship?

Most orders ship within 2–5 business days. You'll receive a tracking email as soon as your order is on its way. Shipping times may vary slightly during peak growing season.

How do I plant my new plant when it arrives?

Water your plant thoroughly as soon as it arrives. Choose a location that matches the plant's light requirements, dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball, and plant at the same depth it was growing in the pot. Water deeply after planting and keep the soil consistently moist for the first few weeks while roots establish.

What if my plant arrives damaged?

We stand behind every plant we ship. If your plant arrives damaged or in poor condition, please contact us within 5 days of delivery with a photo and we'll make it right — replacement or refund, your choice.

What growing zones do your plants ship to?

Most of our plants are suited to USDA Hardiness Zones 5–9. Each product page includes the specific zone range for that plant. Some plants cannot ship to certain states due to agricultural regulations — this is noted on individual product pages.
