Description

Phenomenal Lavender (Lavandula x intermedia 'Phenomenal') is the toughest, most adaptable lavandin available — hardy as far north as Zone 4, resistant to crown rot, downy mildew, and powdery mildew, and equally at home in humid southeastern summers and cold northern winters. Named a 'Must Grow Perennial' by Better Homes and Gardens in 2013, it delivers deep blue to purple blooms from late spring to early summer above a beautifully uniform, silvery mounded form.

Why Gardeners Choose Phenomenal Lavender

  • Exceptional cold hardiness: One of the few lavandins reliably hardy to Zone 4 — far beyond most other varieties.
  • Disease resistant: Resistant to crown rot, downy mildew, and powdery mildew — stays healthy where other lavenders struggle.
  • Heat and humidity tolerant: Performs equally well in challenging southeastern climates.
  • Beautiful form: Uniform, mounded silvery habit with a clean, structured appearance all season.
  • Deer and rabbit resistant: Naturally deters browsing wildlife.
  • Multipurpose: Excellent for borders, low hedges, containers, cut flowers, culinary use, and attracting pollinators.

Planting & Care

  • Light: Full sun with excellent air circulation.
  • Soil: Well-drained; does not tolerate wet conditions.
  • Height: 12–32 inches tall, 24–32 inch spread.
  • Bloom time: Late spring to early summer.
  • Planting time: Spring or early fall when soil is warm.
  • Watering: Consistent moisture during establishment; avoid overwatering once established.
  • Zones: 4–8.

When will my order ship?

Most orders ship within 2–5 business days. You'll receive a tracking email as soon as your order is on its way. Shipping times may vary slightly during peak growing season.

How do I plant my new plant when it arrives?

Water your plant thoroughly as soon as it arrives. Choose a location that matches the plant's light requirements, dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball, and plant at the same depth it was growing in the pot. Water deeply after planting and keep the soil consistently moist for the first few weeks while roots establish.

What if my plant arrives damaged?

We stand behind every plant we ship. If your plant arrives damaged or in poor condition, please contact us within 5 days of delivery with a photo and we'll make it right — replacement or refund, your choice.

What growing zones do your plants ship to?

Most of our plants are suited to USDA Hardiness Zones 5–9. Each product page includes the specific zone range for that plant. Some plants cannot ship to certain states due to agricultural regulations — this is noted on individual product pages.
