Description

Caramel Heuchera (Heuchera 'Caramel') is one of the most striking foliage perennials you can grow in shade — large, scalloped leaves open in warm apricot tones in spring, deepen to soft amber through summer, and shift to rich salmon-red in fall. A true four-season plant that earns its spot in the garden even when it isn't in bloom. Native to the U.S. Northeast, it's adaptable, heat tolerant, and deer resistant.

Why Gardeners Choose Caramel Heuchera

  • Stunning seasonal color shifts: Apricot in spring → soft amber in summer → salmon-red in fall — constant interest without any effort.
  • Thrives in shade: One of the best large-leaved options for woodland gardens, under trees, and shaded borders.
  • Spring blooms: Creamy white flower wands rise above the foliage in spring, adding delicate vertical interest.
  • Heat and humidity tolerant: Performs reliably in southeastern climates where many heucheras struggle.
  • Deer resistant: Reliably avoided by deer.
  • Low maintenance: Virtually care-free once established.

Planting & Care

  • Light: Full sun to part shade; best color in part shade.
  • Soil: Moist to moderately dry; well-drained.
  • Height: 12–18 inches tall and wide.
  • Watering: Regular watering until established; moderate needs after.
  • Planting tip: Plant in groups of three or more for the most impactful foliage display.

When will my order ship?

Most orders ship within 2–5 business days. You'll receive a tracking email as soon as your order is on its way. Shipping times may vary slightly during peak growing season.

How do I plant my new plant when it arrives?

Water your plant thoroughly as soon as it arrives. Choose a location that matches the plant's light requirements, dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball, and plant at the same depth it was growing in the pot. Water deeply after planting and keep the soil consistently moist for the first few weeks while roots establish.

What if my plant arrives damaged?

We stand behind every plant we ship. If your plant arrives damaged or in poor condition, please contact us within 5 days of delivery with a photo and we'll make it right — replacement or refund, your choice.

What growing zones do your plants ship to?

Most of our plants are suited to USDA Hardiness Zones 5–9. Each product page includes the specific zone range for that plant. Some plants cannot ship to certain states due to agricultural regulations — this is noted on individual product pages.
