Description

Black-eyed Susan 'Goldsturm' (Rudbeckia 'Goldsturm') is a North American native wildflower and one of the most reliable, cheerful perennials you can plant. Bright golden-yellow petals surround dark central cones from mid-summer through mid-fall, creating a bold, sunny display that gets better every year as the clumps fill in. Deer resistant, drought tolerant, and a consistent magnet for bees and butterflies.

Why Gardeners Choose Black-eyed Susan 'Goldsturm'

  • Long bloom season: Flowers from mid-summer through mid-fall — one of the longest-blooming perennials for the sunny border.
  • Pollinator favorite: Bees and butterflies flock to the golden flowers throughout the bloom season.
  • Native plant: A North American wildflower that supports local ecosystems and wildlife habitat.
  • Deer and rabbit resistant: Naturally deters browsing wildlife.
  • Gets better with age: Returns each year as a larger, more robust clump — a true perennial investment.
  • Winter interest: Seed heads feed birds through the cold months when left standing.

Planting & Care

  • Light: Full sun to part shade.
  • Soil: Well-drained; adaptable to a wide range of soil types.
  • Watering: Moderate — water regularly during dry periods, especially in the first season.
  • Deadheading: Deadhead regularly for continued blooms; leave late-season heads for birds.
  • Companions: Pairs beautifully with ornamental grasses, Shasta Daisies, Russian Sage, and Dianthus.

Shipping Information

When will my order ship?

Most orders ship within 2–5 business days. You'll receive a tracking email as soon as your order is on its way. Shipping times may vary slightly during peak growing season.

How do I plant my new plant when it arrives?

Water your plant thoroughly as soon as it arrives. Choose a location that matches the plant's light requirements, dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball, and plant at the same depth it was growing in the pot. Water deeply after planting and keep the soil consistently moist for the first few weeks while roots establish.

What if my plant arrives damaged?

We stand behind every plant we ship. If your plant arrives damaged or in poor condition, please contact us within 5 days of delivery with a photo and we'll make it right — replacement or refund, your choice.

What growing zones do your plants ship to?

Most of our plants are suited to USDA Hardiness Zones 5–9. Each product page includes the specific zone range for that plant. Some plants cannot ship to certain states due to agricultural regulations — this is noted on individual product pages.
