Description

Grosso Lavender (Lavandula intermedia 'Grosso') is the gold standard of lavandins — the variety most prized in France for perfume and essential oil production, and one of the most beautiful in the garden. Long, deep violet flower spikes rise above compact grayish-green foliage in a bold, fragrant display. The most cold-hardy of the French hybrid lavenders, it's heat and drought resistant, easy to maintain, and exceptional for dried arrangements, hedges, and crafts.

Why Gardeners Choose Grosso Lavender

  • Exceptional fragrance: The most fragrant of the lavandins — prized for essential oil, sachets, potpourri, and dried flower production.
  • Bold, tall flower spikes: Long deep violet blooms create a stunning visual display above the compact foliage.
  • Most cold-hardy French hybrid lavender: Performs reliably across a wider range of climates than other lavandins.
  • Heat and drought resistant: Very low water needs once established — thrives in hot, dry conditions.
  • Pollinator friendly: Butterflies and hummingbirds are drawn to the fragrant blooms all season.
  • Versatile: Excellent for hedges, pathways, borders, dried flowers, wreaths, and crafts.

Planting & Care

  • Light: Full sun with open air circulation.
  • Soil: Well-drained; avoid heavy or wet soils.
  • Watering: Minimal once established — less is more for Grosso.
  • Pruning: Trim lightly after blooming to maintain shape and encourage healthy regrowth.
  • Air circulation: Important for preventing mold — avoid planting in tight, enclosed spots.

When will my order ship?

Most orders ship within 2–5 business days. You'll receive a tracking email as soon as your order is on its way. Shipping times may vary slightly during peak growing season.

How do I plant my new plant when it arrives?

Water your plant thoroughly as soon as it arrives. Choose a location that matches the plant's light requirements, dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball, and plant at the same depth it was growing in the pot. Water deeply after planting and keep the soil consistently moist for the first few weeks while roots establish.

What if my plant arrives damaged?

We stand behind every plant we ship. If your plant arrives damaged or in poor condition, please contact us within 5 days of delivery with a photo and we'll make it right — replacement or refund, your choice.

What growing zones do your plants ship to?

Most of our plants are suited to USDA Hardiness Zones 5–9. Each product page includes the specific zone range for that plant. Some plants cannot ship to certain states due to agricultural regulations — this is noted on individual product pages.
